OULTON Park are hoping Saturday marked a landmark moment in their campaign following a six-wicket win at promotion rivals Grappenhall.

Their fourth successive league victory, it leaves them three points adrift of the Warrington outfit – who currently occupy second spot in the Division One table.

They knocked over Grappers for 129 after winning the toss, with wickets shared between Guy Emmett (3-31), Sam Blandford (3-33) and Martyn East (3-35).

The latter also held on to a smart slip catch to dismiss James McCoy, and run out Peter Barnes from the boundary.

East (37) and skipper Pat Roberts (33) then led their side to a comfortable victory by the 35th over.

Weaverham became the first team to beat Didsbury in more than two months – a sequence of seven matches – when they won a close encounter by five runs at Wallerscote Road.

Kevin Waterhouse (100 off 102 balls) scored a sparkling ton for the hosts, who totalled 185 all out after winning the toss.

The table-toppers reached 180 in reply, with tail-ender Matt Gregson (92) adding 120 for the ninth wicket with Sam Leech (38).

Wilden Cornwall (5-68) and George McCormick (3-23) ensured it was not enough.

Davenham were denied a victory at home to lowly Warrington by their guests’ last-wicket pair.

The hosts racked up 252-7 after winning the toss, boosted by contributions from Mark Greaves (64), Oli Gallagher (60), Sam Hunt (35) and Chris Hornby (31no).

However they were thwarted when the visitors closed on 179-9 despite the best effort of Stephen Bliss (4-61) and South African Givon Christian (4-41).

Northwich climbed into the top half of the Division Two standings as a reward for a four-wicket win against Barrow at Moss Farm.

Set a target of 189 to win, they needed only 37 overs to get there.

Openers Sam Stoneley (66) and Glinoj Cherian (23) set them on their way before Chandrika Wathukarage (51no) and Gladwin Cherian (34) steered their side closer to victory.

Barrow’s innings had ended at 188-8 after they were put in.

Marlon Barclay (81) was the outstanding performer, while Andrew Dufty (4-53) and Sam Shepherd (2-32) starred with the ball.

Mobberley pushed Middlewich closer to the relegation trapdoor by recording a six-wicket win at Haddon Field.

The hosts posted a competitive 199-8, which featured a 53-run partnership for the first wicket between captain Nick Gill (36) and Ryan Twigg (35).

Phil Parry (43) and Alex Gill (37) then added 77 more for the fourth.

However prolific Aussie Charlie Nield (77) continued his run of fine form in his side’s winning reply, which closed on 200-4.
