DAVENHAM’S batting recovery proved not to be enough in a one-wicket derby defeat at Oulton Park.

It is a win that leaves the men from Little Budworth fourth in Division One.

They had only one wicket remaining when they got over the top of the 189-8 set by Davenham, who were 95-5 at one stage.

Givon Christian (79) stood tall for Davenham and an opening partnership was established with Ben Gough (29).

The visitors also had valuable batting contributions further down the order from Phil Sharples (23no) and Smith (29).

Matthew Parkinson (4-83) took the most wickets, while Guy Emmett (2-39) also posed a threat.

Oulton’s early response was strong, with openers Daniel Leech (55) and Martyn East (54) laying a solid foundation.

After Leech’s departure at 139-4 it was hard going, and Mark Latham (24) was the only other host player to reach double figures.

Third-placed Weaverham won by five wickets at Tattenhall.

The visitors took control as they bowled out the basement-dwellers for 95, with Kevin Waterhouse (4-25) and Rob McMillan (4-28) enjoying a fine afternoon.

Weaverham hauled in the score in their 32nd over, after losing five wickets.

Leading scorers were Matt Jamieson (23) and James Lewis (29).

Northwich’s Andy Dufty produced a remarkable bowling performance in Division Two at Stockport, taking 9-14 from 15 overs in a total of 104.

Earlier Northwich scored 212-9 with Sam Stoneley (59), skipper Mark Walker (48no), James Plant (40) and Glinoj Cherian (30) leading the way.
