BARNTON’S sequence without a win extended to three matches when they lost by 52 runs at Division One pacesetters Bredbury St Marks on Saturday.

The leaders responded to Matthew Morley’s decision to field first, assembling 217-6 in 45 overs.

Morley (3-25) was the leading wicket-taker in his five overs, while Neil Langham (2-53) and Adam Garrod (1-34) also featured.

Garrod made the breakthrough at 109, taking the scalp of Bredbury skipper Rick Keyworth (63), before Morley claimed the next three including the other opener Darren Carr (63).

But Barnton lost Cory Devanny (13), Garrod (5) and Jordan Cobley (17) cheaply in reply while Callum Doyle forged a knock of 67.

Cobley was followed to the pavilion by two teammates without a run being added in a sticky spell that proved to be Barnton’s downfall.

Only Ben Wingfield (36) and Alex Jeffs (12) reached double figures of the remaining batsmen before Barnton were skittled for 165.

Kingsley won by five wickets at Ashley in Division Two.

It took the visitors less than 32 overs to overhaul the 158-9 achieved by their hosts in 45.

Brent Hartley (2-35), James Faint (2-46) and Chris Martin (2-40) helped to break the back of Ashley.

And it was Hartley’s 66 with the bat that steered Kingsley on the right track in reply.

Seventh-placed Oakmere stayed three points ahead of Kingsley in the standings on the back of a 24-run success against Stockport Trinity.

Oakmere may have feared the worst after being bowled out for 98 with Rick Lyons (27), Alex Hodges (20) and Matthew Howard (15) the only batsmen to reach double figures.

But Stockport were rolled over for 74 in response.
