AFTER failing to win any of their first five matches this term, improving Oakmere have collected maximum points from four of the next half-dozen fixtures.
A fine performance in the field was the key to Saturday’s six-wicket win against Kingsley in Division Two.
Matthew Howard (4-28), supported by Nick Guest (2-1) and Harrison Jones (2-22) led the way as the skittled the visiting team for 84 after asking them to bat.
Only three batsmen – Danny Mullins, Ed Leneghan and Tom Hughes (15no) – posted double-digit scores.
Openers Alex Hodges and Craig Phelan (43 off 45 balls), who struck seven fours and a six, put on 54 runs for the first wicket in Oakmere’s reply.
Jones and Guest finished the job in the 22nd over at 87-4.
Games involving Barnton, who had been due to travel to table-toppers Ashton on Mersey in Division One, and Winnington Park – also due to play a promotion rival in the form of Port Sunlight – did not start.
It leaves Alec Butcher’s men a point clear at the Division Two summit after third-placed Haslington lost at Chelford.
