DANNY Gee and captain Matthew Morley joined forces to guide Barnton to an impressive six-wicket victory at home to Woodford in Division A on Saturday.

They shared in an unbeaten partnership worth 159 runs, with Gee finishing not out on 103 after hitting a dozen boundaries, as the hosts successfully chased 215 to win at Broomsedge.

The duo had come together with the score at 56-4.

Woodford posted 214-4 after winning the toss, Alex Jeffs (2-23) removing leading scorer Joe Gilliatt (70) with the assistance of a catch on the square-leg boundary by Leigh Cobley.

Oakmere registered a first win of the season in the same section, brushing aside their hosts Irby by 117 runs.

After setting the home team a target of 182 to win, Daniel Gibbon (4-6) and Ciaran McDonnell (3-16) combined to help dismiss them for 64.

The Northwich outfit had posted 181-8 after being put in, with a 63-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Alex Hodges (63) and Alex Wood (33) a highlight.

Mike Dodd contributed a run-a-ball 27 too.

In Division B West, Kingsley were dismissed for 99 in a 48-run reverse at home to Oxton’s Academy.

Chasing 148 for victory, Adrian Burden (28) made the largest contribution as Jonathan Fairclough (6-34) returned match-winning figures.

Earlier, Lee Tasker (5-25) starred with the ball in the visitors’ 147 all out.

Teenager Sam Speak scored a maiden century to rescue Winnington Park’s seconds’ innings in their head-to-head with Chester County Officers.

After struggling at 40-4, he hit 118 to help them recover to 183 all out.

A stand worth 90 runs for the seventh wicket with Anthony Barnes was a highlight.

Chester batted for 47 overs to earn a draw at 127-8, with Hassan Irfan (2-13) and Dan Barnes (2-29) claiming a brace of wickets each.

After a testing time in the field, Winsford’s seconds earned a draw away to Neston thirds in the same section.

Matthew Wilson (112) scored a ton as the home team racked up 224-3, although their guests avoided defeat by reaching 173-8 in reply.

Colin Dean (50) and captain Andy Cooper (42) were the leading scorers.
