WINNINGTON Park let slip a promotion place on Saturday following a seven-wicket reverse at Kingsley.

They tumble to fourth in the table as a result with two games left, 11 points adrift of second-placed Haslington.

Alec Butcher’s men were knocked over for 126 at the Croft, where Rob Begbie (34) was their leading scorer.

Travis Martin claimed four wickets for the hosts, supported by Ben Stoddart who took three.

He then led the way with the bat, an unbeaten 68 taking his season’s tally against Winnington to 195 from two innings without losing his wicket.

Kingsley’s innings closed on 130-3.

Barnton climb to third place as a reward for beating leaders Lymm by seven wickets.

The table-toppers posted 208-5 from 42 overs before declaring, with Cory Devanny and captain Simon Hancock claiming two wickets each.

Paul Coot (39) and Adam Garrod (70) took the home team to 65-1, followed by a century stand between the latter and Rick Farnworth (50no).

Youngster Jordan Cobley (21no) continued his emergence, regularly finding gaps in the field to score, helping his team to victory with four overs to spare.

It leaves Barnton seven points behind Haslington, who they host on the final afternoon of the campaign on Saturday week.

Oakmere, sixth in the standings, shared the spoils with Chester County Officers after a draw.

Captain Paul Yearsley (67no) anchored the Northwich outfit’s innings, which closed at 192-9, after they had won the toss.

Craig Phelan (28) and Harrison Jones (23) put on 53 for the second wicket following Alex Hodges’ dismissal for a duck, while Rick Lyons contributed 24.

Chester’s chase fell short at 185-6, with Guy Groves, Matthew Howard, Matt Norton and Dan Wood taking a wicket each.

Winsford, already condemned to relegation, suffered an 85-run reverse at Over Peover in Division Three.

The hosts totalled 187-8 before declaring, then dismissed the men from Knights Grange for 102.
