DAVENHAM were defeated in Division Two for the first time this season on Saturday, succumbing to Christleton by three wickets.

The visitors, unbeaten in their previous 17 league matches, amassed 263-7 after being put in, led by Adam Day (63), David Price (42) and knocks of 34 from skipper Martin Goff and George Clarke.

However the home team made it to their target with three overs to spare thanks to half-centuries from Ollie Morgan-Jones (79) and Adam Gittins (57).

The visitors were left to rue dropped catches, with Chris Truelove (3-62) and Danny Westwood (2-36) the pick of their attack.

Weaverham occupy second spot in the table after extending a winning sequence to three matches by beating visitors Cheadle Hulme.

Set a target of 219 to win, Jon Lightfoot (91) set the Russets on course for victory following an 80-run partnership for the third wicket with Dave Ollier (40).

The latter then added 82 with Ryan Simm (39) before Stuart Hayes (15no) completed the job.

Earlier, captain Doug Pinnington (2-50) and Simm (2-58) claimed a brace of wickets each in Cheadle’s final tally of 218-8.

Northwich squeezed past Bredbury by two runs at Moss Farm, where they were skittled for 97.

Ryan Twigg (27) was one of only four batsmen to reach double figures.

However an inspired bowling display from Mark Wrench (5-26) and skipper Gavin Twigg (4-35) helped send back the visitors for 95.

Oulton Park eased to a seven-wicket win at Bollington, where they chased down 141 to win in 28 overs.

Simon Torlop (68) and Ben Kettle (51no) contributed half-centuries.

Bolly reached 140-9 earlier in the afternoon, when Thomas Bannister-Wright (4-69) and Steve Jackson (3-32) starred with the ball for the visitors.

Middlewich went down by four wickets at Timperley in Division One, posting 142-8 with captain Alex Gill (37no) and Jamie Williams (36) the leading scorers.

Gill then landed 3-34, but the home team eased to victory in the 32nd over.
