WEAVERHAM were able to claim bragging rights after beating neighbours Northwich by four wickets when they met at Wallerscote Road.

The Russets rolled over their guests for 120 after winning the toss, with Stuart Hayes (4-24) and Alan Bell (3-29) enjoying most success of the hosts’ attack.

David Murphy (24) and Matthew George (22) were the visitors’ leading scorers.

That total was never likely to be enough, knocks from Jake Lightfoot (34) and skipper Dave Armstrong (30no) helping Weaverham to 121-6 in the 23rd over.

Davenham remain out in front in Division Two following a six-wicket win at Mobberley, where they successfully chased 174 to win.

Ryan Blackie (63no) and Mark Spalding (60no) were their star turns, sharing in an unbroken partnership worth 120 runs to secure victory inside 30 overs.

Earlier, Mike Kouris (5-29) and Oli Gallagher (4-45) had combined to bowl out the home team for 173, the former making sure James Litherland (47) and Jamie Thomas (41) were stopped short of half-centuries.

In the same section, Oulton Park hammered Alvanley by 223 runs at Little Budworth.

Thomas Bannister-Wright (174 off 146 balls) found the boundary 34 times for the hosts as they piled on 304-3 before declaring after 47 overs.

Mark Latham (71), who added 211 for the second wicket with his teammate, and Ben Kettle (40no off 25 balls) provided support.

Damien Barton then took over, ripping through the visitors’ batting line-up to claim 7-34 from a dozen overs while Elliott Ashwell (3-16) did the rest.

Richard Clorley (102) scored a ton for Middlewich in their Division One date with Warrington, but it could not prevent his side from losing by 71 runs.

Chasing 231 to win, they were dismissed for 159 as only three other batsmen made it to double figures.

Warrington had posted 230-7 after being put in on their home strip, Clorley (3-56) starting off what would be a fine individual performance with support from Pat Hurley (2-63).
