OULTON Park occupy third place in Division One following a comfortable nine-wicket win at Middlewich.

Their hosts had started with promise after winning the toss, with Jamie Williams (61) and Andrew Davies (51) sharing in an 83-run partnership for the second wicket.

They closed on 192-6 after Kieran Boyle (25) and Kristian Clowes (22) had chipped in, with Guy Emmett (2-34) and Iroshan de Silva (2-55) claiming a brace of wickets each for the visitors.

Oulton responded stylishly, reaching 193-1 in just 33 overs with de Silva (77no) and Daniel Leech (52no) putting on 116 runs after the latter had made it to 77 with fellow opener Martyn East (55).

Boyle took the only wicket.

The men from Little Budworth are 34 points adrift of the second promotion position, while at the other end of the table back-markers Middlewich are now 41 short of safety.

Davenham’s four-match winning run ended against Timperley at Butcher’s Stile, where the visitors totalled 218-8 after winning the toss.

Craig Grindley (51) shared in a fifth-wicket partnership worth 57 runs, ended by Daniel Hancock (2-46).

Ben Gough (3-36) and Robin Taylor (3-47) were among the wickets too for the hosts.

Davenham were dismissed for 135 after tea, when captain Mark Greaves (36) was the only batsman to make it beyond 20.

Tim Niemand (19), James Loveridge (17) and Hancock (15) made starts, but Ian Grindley (4-27) and Jack White (3-45) ensured they amounted to nothing.

Elsewhere in Division One, Weaverham were three-wicket winners at Didsbury, replying with 168-7 to their hosts’ all out 166.

The Russets, after back-to-back victories, rise to fifth as a reward.

Northwich suffered a third defeat from their past four matches in Division Two, sliding to seventh in the standings.

Brooklands had the better of proceedings at Moss Farm, where they tallied 211-5 after being put in.

David Madden (72no) and Jack Bagshaw (67) both scored half-centuries, while James Plant (3-70) returned the best bowling figures for the hosts.

Northwich recovered from a slow start after tea thanks to knocks from captain Mark Walker (36), Plant (35) and Glinoj Cherian (27), but wickets fell regularly to leave them all out for 156 with six overs still left.

AJ Hart took 4-35.
