TRAVIS Martin was at his most marvellous to help Kingsley demolish Chelford at the Croft.

The Australian ripped through the visitors’ batting order, taking 7-29 from 16 overs as they crumbled to 89 all out after being put in.

Fellow fast bowler Matt Gabbott (2-21) provided support, while skipper Toby Mullins, Ed Leneghan and Alan Ritchie each held on to two catches in the field.

Kingsley wasted no time securing an eight-wicket victory after tea, when Mitch Headrick (53no off 35 balls) bludgeoned seven fours and three sixes.

They had 20 points in the bag before the end of the 18th over, ending a three-match sequence without a win in Division Two.

Fourth in the table, they are 24 points adrift of a promotion place.

One of those positions is occupied by Winnington Park, who lost by four wickets at home to fellow hopefuls Haslington.

After winning the toss, they looked comfortable at 32-0 before losing three wickets for 11 runs.

Jonny Wales was out shortly afterwards, though Martin Evans and Greg McKeown (22) steadied things with a partnership worth 44 runs for the fifth wicket.

Evans (64) anchored the innings, his half-century including eight fours, as Park closed on 151.

Tom Gledhill claimed 5-45.

The hosts seemed set for victory when Haslington struggled to 77-5, Wales (3-51) taking his third wicket when he saw off Jordan Sealey.

Ben Twemlow (44no) then took the game away from Winnington in worsening conditions, supported by Tom Hackett (25) in a partnership worth 49 runs, as they eased to 154-6 in the 35th over.

Haslington close to within 22 points of Alec Butcher’s men, who visit lowly Chelford this weekend, as a result.

Barnton fell to a surprise one-wicket defeat at home to Woodford, who recorded only a second win of the campaign.

They posted a below-par 169-8 after losing the toss, though Cory Devanny’s aggressive run-a-ball 48 had given them initial momentum.

Ben Wingfield (35) and Jack Whalley (18) rotated the strike well during a sixth-wicket partnership worth 56 runs, while Alex Jeffs (14) scored quickly at the close of the innings.

Chris Clarke claimed 6-58 for the visitors.

Woodford’s openers put on 75 for the first wicket before skipper Simon Hancock (2-23) broke through and, together with fellow spinner Pat Flanagan (4-50), they slowed the strike-rate.

A rain-enforced pause loosened their grip and, despite Paul Coot chipping in with a brace of wickets, the visitors squeezed over the line at 170-9.

Oakmere’s last-wicket pair of Guy Groves (27no) and Matthew Howard resisted for long enough to deny leaders Lymm a victory.

They closed on 135-9 after struggling for momentum, with four batsmen – Rick Lyons, Dan Wood, Alex Wood and skipper Nick Guest – all dismissed for 19.

The home team were left to rue seven dropped catches, while Matthew Bradshaw (3-30) was the pick of their bowlers.

Earlier, Lymm raced ominously to 69 inside nine overs before Guest (2-48) and Groves (6-61) restricted them to just 76 from the next 30.

Travis Scholes (42no) carried his bat as they closed on 177-9.

Winsford, forced to field a weakened side by absences, suffered a 101-run reverse at Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge in Division Three.

The home team declared at 202-6 after batting first, then dismissed the men from Knights Grange for 101 after tea.

Andy Cooper (49) accounted for almost half of those runs.

Winsford have now lost all but one of their 13 matches to date this season.
