DAVENHAM won for the first time since April, and ended a six-match losing run, in style on Saturday when they thrashed Urmston by 120 runs.

They posted a season-best 275-6 after winning the toss, with Mark Greaves (84), Sam Hunt (53) and Chris Hornby (53no) – who closed the innings with a six – contributing half-centuries.

The men from Butcher’s Stile delivered with the ball, pace-men Robin Taylor (3-43) and Ben Gough (3-51) accounting for Urmston’s top-order before Sam Hunt (2-5) completed the job in successive deliveries.

Mike Sambell’s smart stumping saw off Chris Scott before Craig Wilson was trapped LBW with the score on 155.

Oulton Park could not prevent Timperley from taking over top spot in Division One, losing by five wickets at Little Budworth.

After winning the toss, opener pair Nick James (28) and Daniel Leech (42) took the hosts to 67 before they slipped quickly to 91-5.

Andy Mills (36) helped them recover to 179 all out, with Ian Grindley and Jack White taking four wickets each.

Guy Emmett (3-54) took a wicket with the first ball of Timperley’s innings, only for a 116-run fourth-wicket partnership between captain Craig Grindley (69no) and Asif Iqbal (75) to take the visitors to their target.

Sale were victors by two wickets at home to Weaverham, for whom Antiguan Wilden Cornwall scored a run-a-ball 123 that included 10 fours and four sixes.

He added 154 runs for the fourth wicket with stand-in captain James Lewis (59) as the Russets posted a tally of 227-7 after being put in.

But Sale responded with 228-8, an eight-wicket stand worth 79 making the difference.

Cornwall took 3-68 for Weaverham.

Middlewich lost again, this time by seven wickets at home to improving Oxton.

The hosts reached 167-9 after winning the toss, with Kieran Boyle (40) their leading scorer while Mahesh Rajaratne (5-41) did the damage.

Captain Andy Gibson (75no) and Marc De Brabander (61) enjoyed a 121-run opening stand in Oxton’s reply as they secured victory in the 36th over.

Northwich sent Irby to the bottom of Division Two following a 151-run success, in-form Sam Stoneley (121) proving to be the star of their innings as they totalled 226-5.

Gladwin Cherian (34no) and Ashley Sefton (35no) added late runs.

Irby were routed for 75, James Plant’s 7-26 making him the third Northwich bowler in as many weeks to take seven wickets in an innings.
