OAKMERE’S bowlers were left frustrated after running out of overs to dismiss Malpas in their Division B encounter on Saturday.

Despite the best efforts of Dan Gibbons (4-9) and Ciaran McDonnell (3-30), the visitors to Overdale Lane limped to 117-8.

Earlier Dan Wood (48), then McDonnell (27) and Mike Dodd (21) lower down the order, helped the hosts to 162-8 after they chose to bat.

In the same section, Kingsley drew with Chester County Officers.

Set a target of 180 to win, the Crofters attempted to chase with Andrew Ainsworth (28) and skipper Julian Holmes (20) scoring quickly while under 15s captain Dom Carmichael (37no) held together the innings.

They eventually fell short at 141-6.

Earlier Ian Barlow (52) had top-scored in Chester’s 179, with Anthony Alderman (2-39), Luke Bratt (2-22) and Chris Martin (2-40) sharing the wickets to fall.

Winnington Park were skittled for 70 in a six-wicket defeat at home to Bunbury.

Cameos late in the innings from Stuart Moniz (19 off eight balls), Ash Houghton (13) and Suren Shanmuganathan (12) prevented that figure from being lower.

Bunbury wobbled at 41-4, including a maiden senior wicket for 15-year-old spinner Dan Barnes, before Stuart Swift (27no) completed the job.

In Division A, Ashton on Mersey cruised to a seven-wicket win at Barnton.

Needing 159 to win, they reached their target inside 30 overs thanks to knocks from Ryan O’Brien (51), Tom Scott (46no) and Akash Patel (41).

Mark Nicholas (3-45) took the wickets to fall.

Gary Edwards (45) and Jordan Cobley (33) had top-scored after Barnton won the toss.

In Division C, back-markers Winsford lost by seven wickets against visiting Aston at Knights Grange.

The hosts posted 137-8 after winning the toss, Mark Skellon (35) making the biggest individual contribution.

But Jacob Sant (73no) and Sean Davis (33no) eased the away team to victory with four overs to spare.
