Holders Rudheath Private C hope to forget slow league start in Littler Cup

RUDHEATH Private C, shock winners last season’s final, will be confident of progressing to the last 16 later tonight, Monday.

However they will need to improve on a league record that has seen them lose four of their opening five matches in the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s Section Four.

Hartford A, their higher-ranked second round opponents, cede a 22-chalks head start at Castle Private.

Elsewhere the draw pits a number of Section One heavyweights against each other.

Runners-up from a year ago and seven-times former champions, Wharton Cons A, take on Weaverham aces Owley Wood at Comberbach.

There the men from the Tin Mission must make up a 30-chalks deficit.

Castle Private A take on their second string at Winsford venue Meadow Bank while Frodsham Red Lion A, winners in 2007, have been paired with Winsford Cons A.

The latter start a dozen points better off.

Completing the set of ties to watch, Comberbach A meet Rudheath Private A at Davenham.

Meadow Bank A, without a league win yet this term, plan to forget their woes by beating Owley Wood C.

Section Two promotion hopefuls Beech Tree A will need to be on top form to carry a 78-shots handicap against Moulton RBL A, from two levels lower, tomorrow, Tuesday.

Moulton RBL B, the lowest-ranked team still standing, take on Castle Private C.

Section Five underdogs Bunbury and Davenham C bid to continue their path to the next stage against competition first-timers Lostock and Winsford Cons C respectively.

All ties, on neutral venues, start at 6.30pm.
