BEECH Tree Bowling Club will field a third team in the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association (MCBA) this season following the resignation of a rival.

The Barnton outfit asked the league’s special council if they could enter another team into the competition to fill a vacancy created by Victoria’s voluntary exit.

That request was accepted last night, Wednesday.

Beech Tree B will play in Section Two alongside the Runcorn Road club’s A team, while Beech Tree C have a spot in the league’s fifth tier.

The club’s new team will play their home matches on Thursday evenings.

Victoria, from Holmes Chapel, finished rock-bottom of Section One last summer.

“We are now recruiting extra players to make sure we can fulfil our commitments,” said Roger Farley, chairman of the bowls section.

Results secretary Ray Plant has amended the fixtures lists accordingly, with the MCBA league campaign due to start on April 9.

The association’s member clubs are invited to the annual pre-season meeting, also at Beech Tree, on Thursday, March 18 from 7.15pm.
