BOWLERS are to debate whether their league’s future will be more secure if teams are made up of fewer players.

Members at Rudheath, with backing from their counterparts at Wharton Rec, will ask for votes in favour of a motion for matches in the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association to be 10-a-side.

A similar proposal has been rejected at previous annual meetings.

Bigger clubs, often with larger pools to pick from, have always successfully argued against it.

However the fact that Rudheath, who fielded four teams in the 2017 campaign including two in the Premier Division, now support a change could be significant.

A separate notice of motion will also ask for matches to start a quarter of an hour later

The 115th annual meeting of the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association takes place tonight at Owley Wood Club, in Weaverham, from 7pm.
