THE weather was a winner on Friday, when torrential rain forced more than a dozen league matches to be postponed.

Only two games were played to a finish in the Premier Division, with Comberbach A scoring 240 at home to Winsford Cons A to climb to second in the standings.

Neither of the leading pair, Castle Private A nor Wharton Cons A, were in action.

In Section One, Frodsham Red Lion B conquered Davenham A by a huge 87-chalk margin.

Promotion hopefuls Beech Tree A defeated Sandbach Park at home.

Every scheduled fixture was played in Section Two, with Helsby the week’s biggest winners at Middlewich RBL’s expense.

Second-placed Spinner & Bergamot A lost narrowly, by three points, at Castle Private C.

Moulton RBL won emphatically at back-markers Cuddington A.

Pace-setting Coppenhall WMC dropped only one mark at home to Rudheath C in Section Three, while closest rivals Frodsham Red Lion D scored a big victory on the road at relegation candidates Crowton.

Tarporley A and Winnington A were the division’s other winners against Limes and Hazel Pear B respectively.

A single match was played in Section Four, on Thursday, when Winsford Cons C scored a slender home success – by seven chalks – against Comberbach C.

Barnton CC C continue to lead the way in Section Five following a routine home victory against Cuddington B.

In pursuit, Rudheath D crushed poor guests Barnton CC D by 90 points at Middlewich Road.

Beech Tree B won on their travels to Kelsall B, while elsewhere Davenham D proved too strong for visiting Lostock.
