CHAMPIONS Castle Private A increased their lead, if only slightly, at the Premier Division summit with a full house at home to Winsford Cons A.

After starting the season with a sequence of eight successive wins, the Northwich outfit are 52 points clear of Wharton Cons A in second spot.

The Winsford club were comfortable victors too, dropping only three chalks at the Tin Mission against guests Frodsham Red Lion A who had two winners.

Rudheath A celebrated only a second win of the campaign when beating Shavington, while Comberbach A climbed to third position in the table following a comfortable victory on their own green against Wharton Cons B.

Crewe PO’s record in Section One is unblemished, a seventh victory in a row arriving after they – like Castle – scored a full house.

Kelsall A were on the receiving end.

Crosstown A lead the way following an impressive win on their travels to Winsford Cons B, while Meadowbank A lost by only three chalks on a visit to Davenham A.

In Section Two, Moulton RBL A dropped only five marks at home to Middlewich RBL.

Elsewhere Rudheath B won at rock-bottom Cuddington A – there sixth win in seven games – while promotion hopefuls Alsager Institute reached 237 against visiting Barnton CC A who returned two winners.

Wharton Rec conceded a single chalk against Hazel Pear B in Section Three to improve their position in the table.

There were close calls for Frodsham Red Lion D, beaten by six at Rudheath C, and Limes who were within the same distance at the finish as hosts Crosstown B.

Norley’s margin of victory against Winnington B was the biggest in Section Four, leaving them closest to pace-setting Davenham B in the standings.

Barnton CC B, conquerors of the leaders, are only two chalks further back.

Moulton RBL B won at Meadowbank B, while Comberbach C and Winsford Cons C both recorded good home wins.

Barnton CC D, with a single win to date, were 156 chalks adrift of neighbours Beech Tree B after their hosts posted a maximum score at Runcorn Road.

Also in Section Five, Rudheath D won at Spinner & Bergamot B while leaders Barnton CC C kept hold of top spot after beating Castle Private D.
