A MAN of the match performance from Glynn Cookson could not prevent Cheshire from losing by a single chalk to rivals South Yorkshire on Sunday.
He was one of three Wharton Cons bowlers – Simon Cookson and Tom Vickers were the others – to win in a 230-200 defeat in the away leg at Whiteley Woods Bowling Club.
Comberbach ace Matt Thurlwell, making his debut, was part of the team along with Wharton duo Danny Nixon and Shaun Yearsley plus Castle Private’s Chris MacDonald and Ian Howell.
Cheshire won by 29 at Knutsford, where Castle’s Rob Winnington and Jason Cornes reached 21.
Clubmate Paul Mackie featured too.
