GUARDIAN Cup holder Matthew Thurlwell has been included in Cheshire’s squad for their next appearance.

They will tackle South Yorkshire in the Endsleigh Senior County Championship group stage on Sunday week, June 1, with the Comberbach star set to make his debut in the away leg at Whiteley Woods Bowling Club in Sheffield.

Castle Private pair Ian Howell and Chris MacDonald, plus Wharton Cons regulars Glynn Cookson, Simon Cookson, Danny Nixon, Tom Vickers and Shaun Yearsley will join him at the venue.

Cheshire, who lost their first match in Section One this season against Shropshire, will count on Castle’s Jason Cornes and Rob Winnington for the home leg at Knutsford.

Adi Faulkner, Andy Hamman and Paul Mackie, all from Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association champions Castle Private, as well as Wharton Cons’ Jimmy Harrop are on the stand-by list.

South Yorkshire defeated Merseyside in their campaign opener last month.
