ADRIAN Tomlinson stole the show in the weekend’s Cheshire Track and Field Championships.
The Vale Royal athlete broke a record that had stood since 1990 – and then did it again!
He stretched the championship’s U17s men’s high jump record from 1.88m to 1.90m in a personal best performance at Warrington’s Victoria Park Arena.
Tomlinson went on to achieve the gold with a 1.93m jump that also stands as a Vale Royal record.
In a double whammy, he also won the men’s U17s long jump by 60cm with his best leap of 6.2m.
Some of his clubmates are also celebrating double success.
Richard Tranter won gold in the senior men’s triple jump in 13.66m and the long jump in 6.37m.
Ellie Jackson achieved gold at U13s level in the high jump with 1.33m and in the 70m hurdles in 12.3secs.
Lauren Roberts’ 32.03m proved to be a golden throw in the U20s discus.
Steve Caldwell won the senior men’s 3k and Clara Pettitt picked up gold in the U17s girls’ race.
Kate Howard was first home in the senior women’s 800m, with James Stringer taking the men’s 800m title.
Jessica Parsons secured gold in the U17s 1500m, with Mike Vennard taking the win in the 2k steeplechase.
