MEGAN Huxley seeks a fifth successive individual title at this weekend’s Cheshire County AA Cross Country Championships at Knights Grange.

The Vale Royal Athletics Club star has won every race in which she has taken part at the annual endurance showpiece since making her debut back in 2008.

She defends her U20s women’s crown in Winsford this Saturday.

Hosts Vale Royal AC face a difficult task to match last year’s individual medal haul of 16 – including four gold – their highest at the championships in the past decade.

However it is a total they managed at the same venue in 2009.

In-form Jessica Parsons defends the U15s girls’ title she won at Warrington’s Forest Park a year ago, while Zack Bamber will hope to go one better after finishing as runner-up in the U17s boys’ category.

GB international Stevie Stockton has entered the senior women’s race and, if she competes, will look to add a seventh individual title to her collection since winning the U15s girls’ race in 2003.

The 22-year-old was second behind Olivia Walwyn (Altrincham & District) on her last appearance three years ago.

Stuart Doyle, who raced in England masters colours for the first time last month, moves up to the MV40 category after winning gold in the MV35 class last time out.

The U11s boys and girls run first at Knights Grange this weekend, from 11.30am.

Races continue through to the senior men bringing down the curtain over 10km from 2.15pm.

Spectators watch the action for free.
