JENNY Pyatt, a county and regional champion, is among four athletes from schools in mid Cheshire picked to represent Cheshire at next month’s national championships.

The 15-year-old, a student at St Nicholas RC High School, will contest the inter girls’ discus at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

She makes the trip in fine form after throwing a personal best of 37.91m during last week’s Mason Trophy meeting at the same venue.

Pyatt also defeated older athletes to win the Northern senior title in Manchester earlier this month.

Sir John Deane’s College student Elliot Bowker runs over 3,000m in the senior boys’ category.

Grange School sends two track stars; sprinter Fisayo Williamson-Taylor and Katie Gerrard.

Williamson-Taylor competes in the junior boys’ 100m and, like Pyatt, lowered his previous best in the Mason Trophy after finishing second in 11.3s.

Gerrard, 16, will contest the senior girls’ 1,500m.

She has clocked a personal best of 4:33.54 at a Trafford Grand Prix meeting earlier this season.

Vale Royal Athletics Club’s Jacob Brown, from Malbank School, and Tarporley High School’s Amy Hinchley are also in a 35-strong Cheshire team announced this week.

Brown won the inter boys’ 800m title at the county championships, while Hinchly was runner-up over the same distance in the inter girls’ class.

She will switch to 1,500m, a distance over which she is Cheshire club champion, at Birmingham.

This year’s English Schools’ National Track and Field Championships takes place on Friday, July 11 and the following day, Saturday.
