SIX students from schools in mid Cheshire will represent the county at next month’s English Schools’ Track and Field Championships.

All of them are reigning Cheshire champions in their chosen discipline.

Sprinter Jack Seddon, from Sir John Deane’s College, runs in the 100m at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium while Grange School’s James Webster competes in the 400m hurdles.

He was a bronze medallist, competing in Warrington AC colours, at last weekend’s England Athletics under 20s Championships.

County High School Leftwich’s Elliot Bowker, a victor in the Mason Trophy last weekend, runs in the inter boys’ 3,000m.

Emerging star Jenny Pyatt, from St Nicholas RC High School, is Cheshire’s entry in the junior girls’ discus.

Grange School endurance runner Katie Gerrard competes over 1,500m among the inter girls, while Vale Royal Athletics Club teammate Kate Moulds (Sir John Deane’s College) does the same in the seniors category.

Other Vale Royal members picked to take part include Tarporley High School duo Matthew Sheen and Amy Hinchly, who run in the inter boys’ 3,000m and inter girls’ 800m respectively.

Sandbach School’s Mike Vennard races over 1,500m among senior boys, while Tessa McCormick (Upton High School) is a contender for the senior girls’ 3,000m title.

The two-day event at Alexander Stadium is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 5 and the following day, Saturday.
