MIDFIELDER Tom Schofield has left Witton and signed for Trafford.

The ex-Knutsford schemer was a second half substitute in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North outfit’s FA Trophy success against Sheffield on Saturday.

He asked last month for a chance to play elsewhere.

“Tom wants to be on the pitch as much as possible,” said Witton boss Brian Pritchard.

“That’s perfectly understandable at this stage of his development.

“The door is not closed on a return here either.”

Schofield, 21, helped Knutsford to a club record start to the season before arriving at Witton last September.

He also helped the Cheshire League’s representative team to the last four of the FA Inter-League Cup.

Meanwhile attacker Chris Gahgan has told the club that he is taking an indefinite break from the game to spend more time with his family.

Witton will keep his registration.

Gahgan, 28, is in a third spell at the Help for Heroes Stadium after leaving former league foes Warrington at the turn of the year.

He has not featured at all to date this term.
