Witton Albion will be away from home in the FA Cup's second qualifying round

Another away date for Albion Another away date for Albion

WITTON will find out later today, Tuesday, how far they must travel in the next round of the FA Cup.

Brian Pritchard’s men were paired with FA Vase holders Dunston UTS or Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Kendal Town in yesterday’s second qualifying round draw.

Those two teams meet again tonight after sharing six goals on Saturday.

Albion reserved their place at the next stage following a 4-2 success at Burscough, banking £3,000 from the competition’s prize fund as a reward.

It marked a first win against the Linnets since May, 1979.

Witton await the winners of Dunston’s replay with Kendal on Saturday, September 22.

Is it me or are there 2 football teams in Northwich still? Just feel the Guardian have forgotten about one of them, just because they are going through a tricky time at the moment.....

Hi DaveDavenham.

Thanks for your comment.

The Guardian's reporting of Vics' 'tricky time' has been more comprehensive, detailed and lengthy than any other media outlet.

At the same time, the proportion of our coverage dedicated to Witton Albion, in accordance with principles we have applied consistently, has been tailored to take account of that club's higher ranking in the non-league football pyramid.

That would have happened irrespective of where Northwich Victoria are playing this season.

I do believe that there 'IS' only one team in Northwich, Stafford Victoria no longer play 'IN' Northwich.

DaveDavenham, just think back to last season.
The Guardian published Northwich Vics match reports ....and much else....every week....Jim Rushe's picture....taken at rather an odd angle in my opinion....was a weekly feature.
Witton's games received hardly any coverage and some matches passed without any mention in the Guardian whatsoever despite their success on the field.
Where were you when this was happening?
Currently Vics average home game is round about 90....does this suggest to you the team has a future?

I appreciate the response from Andrew Simpson, that comments are in proportion - however, my comment related to the "Vics v Stamford" preview report, which was the last football comment, to a match that took place in mid August. There was a full report the next day in the "Non League" Paper but nothing in the Guardian since then...

And no, I can't see a future with 90 people turning to watch the match..

Hi DaveDavenham.

There have been details from every Northwich Victoria match played so far this season in our print edition.

THETELLEROFTALES, I'd also add that there was a report - kindly supplied by volunteers at the club - of each Witton match last season in our print edition too.

Content, quite rightly, is different between our print and online offerings.

Hi Andrew.
The difference between your print and online editions is worth knowing.
I cancelled my print edition when you went online.
Was this difference in content widely circulated?

I respect the Guardian's right to withhold some content from the website on the date of publication, but it would be nice if they would add articles a few days later so I can read them here in the States.
