Match pointers
WITTON travel to promotion hopefuls Chorley buoyed by an opening day success against Blyth Spartans.

Manager Brian Pritchard will likely be forced to make at least one change though after midfield anchor Steven Connors limped off during Albion’s 2-1 win.

Matt Cross would be the most likely alternative, but he too is convalescing after injury.

That leaves Rory Fallon standing by after an impressive cameo as a substitute on Saturday.

The visitors will probably name only two survivors – Anthony Gardner and Ben Harrison – from a 2-2 draw during the two teams’ previous meeting last year.

They protect a 17 matches unbeaten sequence in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, a run that started back on February 18, in tonight’s encounter.

Hosts Chorley, beaten in the promotion play-offs semi finals by eventual winners Bradford Park Avenue last term, edged a nine-goals thriller at Stocksbridge in their curtain-raiser.

Manager Garry Flitcroft gave first starts to new recruits Andy Robertson (Trafford), Kieran Walmsley (Kendal) and Simon Garner (FC Halifax) in the 5-4 win.

Striker Steve Foster, reigning Premier Division Golden Boot holder, is a familiar face to Witton fans following a spell at Wincham Park earlier in his career.

I wonder what devious tricks Mr. Foster will be up to tonight?
