WITTON’S foes for the forthcoming season were confirmed at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s annual meeting in Blackpool on Saturday.

The campaign kicks off on Saturday, August 18.

Frickley Athletic’s reprieve from relegation, due to Albion’s neighbours Northwich Victoria being demoted to the competition’s second tier as punishment for breaking finance rules, was ratified by members.

Division One North champions AFC Fylde, plus Brian Pritchard’s play-offs winners, will be joined by their Division One South counterparts Grantham Town and Ilkeston respectively.

Blyth Spartans and Eastwood Town drop down from Blue Square Bet North, while Burscough, Mickleover Sports and Chasetown are relegated from the top tier.

Only two teams will be demoted from the Premier Division at the end of next term with the section set to expand to 24 sides, as confirmed by the Football Association last month, for the 2013-2014 season.

Witton’s goalkeepers coach Dave Andrew received the Division One North play-offs winners’ trophy as part of the weekend’s proceedings at the Imperial Hotel.
