Martin Foyle joins Northwich Victoria's management team as replacement for Paul Simpson

Northwich Guardian: Foyle joins Northwich management team Foyle joins Northwich management team

FORMER York boss Martin Foyle has joined Northwich Victoria’s management team for the season’s remainder.

He will work alongside Alan Wright, who stays at the club following the departure of Paul Simpson following Saturday’s FA Trophy exit against Newport County.

The 48-year-old is Vics’ third manager since the turn of the year.

“I’m happy we’ve been able to secure such a high quality replacement,” said Vics owner Jim Rushe.

“Martin is a man that will command respect from the players for what he has achieved as a player and later as a manager.”

Foyle, most recently a coach at Bristol Rovers in the Football League, has agreed to stay until the end of the current campaign with a brief of earning promotion on the pitch.

He arrives with Northwich placed fourth in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division, although with games in hand on the teams above them.

A popular player in spells at Aldershot, Oxford and Port Vale, Foyle was in charge when York lost 2-0 in the FA Trophy final at Wembley against Stevenage Borough in 2009.

They lost in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs final at the same venue the following year.

He will be in the dugout for Vics’ next league encounter at Stafford Rangers tomorrow night, Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
