Vics owner Jim Rushe attends summit with Thor, who hope shortly to own the club's ground

NORTHWICH Victoria owner Jim Rushe came face-to-face for the first time earlier today, Monday, with the firm that plans to make the Wincham club homeless.

Thor Specialities (UK) Ltd, plus representatives from receivers Deloitte Touche who have accepted an offer from the chemicals manufacturer for the team’s Victoria Stadium home, were at the Manchester summit.

“Discussions are cordial and ongoing,” read a statement issued by Thor to the Guardian.

“Further announcements will be made in due course.”

It gave no detail on what was discussed, nor if the parties plan to meet again.

On Wednesday Thor admitted it had asked Deloitte to arrange for the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit to be evicted after exchanging contracts on a deal to buy the nine-acres site.

The company’s plans remain a secret.

However on Friday it said another ball would not be kicked on the pitch Vics have called home since 2005.

It is very sad to hear that Thor will not allow the club to fulfill their remaining games this season, is well within their means to do so. They should therefore not be surprised if the people of Northwich go against them in the future as a result. They should reconsider their position.

Seems Vics are off the hook again and will be allowed to play out the season at the Marston Arena, but then what? Witton supporters are totally against Vics sharing their ground because of the insults about our ground made by Vics supporters, even now the call it "The Swamp". The Witton board would be courting disaster if they did offer a ground share, many Wittoners would leave in disgust and given Vics track record there is no guarantee they would get paid anyway. No, Vics should fold and reorganise under the control of their supporters in the North West Counties League, or even the Cheshire League and find a ground share with Lostock, Barnton or Middlewich. I understand they will have the stand and the floodlights and they alone might persuade one of these clubs it is a good idea. Meanwhile Witton carry on paying their way and making slow but steady progress both on and off the field; Vics should at least try to follow suit and stop expecting to be bailed out all the time, if you spend more than you earn you go bust, Vics are finally having to face that fact and in my opinion about time too. WHS....Yes I agree with you.

I don't hold with this 'football brotherhood' nonsense.

The Vics are in the state they are in because of the way the club has been run over the past few seasons. Nothing surprises their supporters any more and quite a few have walked away in disgust. Most of them seem to believe every promise made to them, every crazy forecaste of the good times that are just round the corner.
For Vics read Kettering, read Darlington and a bit higher up the pecking order read Portsmouth FC.

What is crazy is the belief held by the clubs owners that they can continue to avoid paying creditors, a state of perfect self-delusional denial.
If Vics do go under maybe Witton will get much better press coverage. The current coverage isn't exactly shared evenly between Witton and Vics is it Andrew?
