THE prospective new owners of Northwich Victoria’s home patch insist that the team has played its last football match there.

Thor Specialities (UK) Limited contacted the Guardian this afternoon, issuing the following statement that reads:

“WE at Thor Specialities (UK) Limited wish to thank the Northwich Victoria supporters for their exemplary behaviour yesterday and acknowledge their feelings at this time.

“Yesterday, Thursday, we received via our legal representatives the first official request to meet with Northwich Victoria Football Club (2007) Limited, and we will respond to this request as soon as practically possible.

“We have stated that unfortunately we are not in a position to allow Northwich Victoria to continue to operate from the stadium as we have a significant amount of work to undertake.

“It is our intention to invest in the region of £2.5 million building new facilities.

“It is our preferred option that this work will be allocated to local contractors further benefiting the local economy and people.

“Meeting our time scales on this project will ensure that this operation remains in the UK at our Wincham site.

“We have also stated that we wish to provide some assistance to the club, and with this in mind we would like to clarify the following:

Thor is willing to contribute towards the costs of ground share arrangements for the remainder of this season.

Thor is willing to contribute towards ground share costs for the 2012/2013 season.

Thor has no desire to demolish the legendary Danebank stand.

Thor recognises that the heartbeat of any football club is its supporters, therefore we would be delighted to donate both the Danebank and the floodlights to the club and its supporters in such a way that it protects the clubs longer term interests.

Thor is willing to discuss any other items associated with the stadium.

We hope that any talks that can be arranged can be conducted in a cordial and constructive manner for the benefit of Northwich Victoria Football Club and its supporters.
