NORTHWICH Victoria’s players will run out in front of their own supporters for the first time this term on Saturday.

The club’s owner Jim Rushe told the Guardian that he has received confirmation from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League bosses that a game against Frickley Athletic could take place at the Victoria Stadium.

“It’s good news,” he said.

“This week has been a long one, but the important thing was to make sure we could host the match. Now we can.”

He added that finance experts at Deloitte Touche, appointed as de-facto landlords in 2009 following the demise of Beaconet Limited, have granted the team permission to play on their home pitch until the end of the season.

The licence was sent to league bosses this morning.

Rushe said approval was then given at 6pm.

The Guardian has asked the Evo-Stik League for a comment, but one is not expected until tomorrow, Friday.

However Deloitte’s intervention in establishing a long-term arrangement for Vics to host visitors in Wincham appears to meet the security of tenure criteria cited by league chiefs in Tuesday’s statement as the reason for postponing a scheduled match against Kendal Town.

Rushe expects his property firm, Northwich Victoria Developments Ltd, to be landowners shortly in any case after agreeing a deal with Yorkshire Bank to buy the nine-acres site.

Northwich Victoria Football Club (2007) Ltd, which pays the players’ wages, will be its tenants.

Meanwhile no date has yet been set by the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League for a disciplinary hearing at which Vics will be asked to answer a charge of failing to fulfil a fixture.

The club was accused of breaking the league’s rule 8.6 as a result of the clash with Kendal not taking place.
