LEE Steele’s first half goal sent Ashton United on their way to a second successive win and top spot in the early season standings.
Danny Johnson’s men ran out 3-0 victors at Colwyn Bay and share top spot with Matlock Town, who beat Burscough by the same score.
Elsewhere Jamie Rainsford’s goal was enough for Marine to take home the points from their trip to 10-man Chasetown, for whom Dean Perrow was sent off.
Northwich Victoria continued their fine start too, edging out fellow promotion hopefuls Bradford Park Avenue thanks to first half strikes from Andy Fowler and Wayne Riley.
Adam Clayton replied for the visitors.
Tuesday’s other two encounters - Frickley Athletic at home to FC Halifax Town and Kendal Town’s trip to Ossett Town - finished goalless.
On Sunday new boy Mike Norton’s double helped FC United of Manchester to a winning start at the expense of Marine.
