CHAMPIONS Owley Wood C will top the Mid-Cheshire League tree at Christmas, writes Graham Carter.
Despite not having a match to play this week they stay at the Division One summit, albeit on aggregate points, from Middlewich Legion D, who proved too strong for Victoria A this week.
Pockets C are one point further back in third place.
Cygnet D and Victoria D, who have each won only once this season, remain adrift at the foot of the table in the two relegation places.
Owley Wood B have a three-points advantage over Winsford B at the top of Division Two following their win on the road at rock-bottom Moulton.
Their victim’s record of a single win from a dozen attempts leaves them propping up the rest of the division.
Third-placed Castle Private C are within striking distance of the leading pair along with Winnington C who, after a rest week, are only six points off a promotion place.
Victoria C continue to romp away with the Division Three title, leaving Bostock D and Wharton A to scrap over second spot.
However both lost this week.
That allows Wharton B to edge closer to their clubmates’ total after beating strugglers Victoria B.
Castle Private D and Pot Bank B are vying for the wooden spoon, hoping that the New Year brings them a change in fortune.
The league programme resumes on Tuesday, January 5.
