GRANGE School rowers bowed out of the Henley Royal Regatta after a thrilling race last night, Thursday.

The Hartford club’s junior quad scull were beaten in the first round of the Fawley Challenge Cup by neighbours Royal Chester and Queen’s Park High School.

Will Broderick, Tom Ford, Rob Sherry and Rupert Wiltshire were in the boat, losing by one and three quarter lengths after leading through the Barrier and Fawley lengths of the 2,000m course.

But their opponents dug deep to pinch victory in the final stretch.

The quartet are the second all-Grange crew to qualify for the prestigious annual event in as many years.
