CUDDINGTON'S mixed teams had their best week of the season.
A convincing 8-0 victory by the A team takes them to second place in Slazenger South and Mid Cheshire League Division One ahead of an exciting clash with leaders Congleton this Sunday.
Cuddington B, unbeaten so far this season, drew in their Division Two clash with Holmes Chapel, mainly thanks to the strong partnership of Jamie Cummins and Lindsey Cochrane.
Elsewhere Cuddington C were pleased to clock up only their second win of the summer, comfortably beating Kelsall.
Meanwhile Cummins, captain of the Men's B quartet, led his team to a satisfying victory against a strong Congleton side.
Partnered by Brad Bird and supported by Jack Jordan-Bell and newcomer Pete Sherratt, they comfortably avenged the defeat at the hands of the same opponents in the first half of the season.
The Ladies teams fared less well, with losses for a weakened A team and also the C team. Only the B team succeeded, winning a close battle against Hartford C 6-2.
WINSFORD felt regret after giving table toppers Congleton A a run for their money this week.
The men from Knights Grange went down 6-2 in their Slazenger South and Mid Cheshire League top tier clash, but felt they could have won another set.
"We lost 7-5 when really we should have done better," said club spokesman Chris Mayoh, who was on court with Mark Abbiss, David Jones and Richard Clorley.
The second string were too strong for Bentley B, running out 5-2 victors in Division Three.
Andy Yearsley, Jamie Garratt, Neil Garratt and Mayoh made up their quartet.
The first string were due at Nantwich A last night, Tuesday, hoping to complete a double while the second string hosted Holmes Chapel A at Knights Grange.
HARTFORD Men's A team reversed an early season defeat to Alsager A with a crushing 8-0 victory on Thursday.
They raced through the match for the loss of just 14 games in eight sets.
Jarrod Wood was reunited with Andrew Moores for the first time this season in the Slazenger South and Mid Cheshire League's top tier.
Last year they destroyed Alsager's first pair for the loss of just two games and this time they only dropped four.
"Playing with Jarrod takes the pressure off because not many people can cope with his pace," said Moores.
