1874 NORTHWICH supporters refused to be downbeat despite seeing their side lose an FA Vase semi-final first leg at Thatcham Town on Saturday.
Close to 300 of them travelled to Waterside Park, where the hosts prevailed thanks to Ross Cook’s early penalty.
The teams meet again for the return in Wincham next Saturday, and the home fans are optimistic their favourites can cancel a narrow deficit.
Here’s what they’ve said:
Didn't test their keeper. Worst we've played in months and we're still very much in it. Positive for leg 2.

Comfortably 2nd best this afternoon unfortunately. Not seen us play like that before. Glad the players kept it at 1-0. Great chance to grab goals and win at Wincham Park next week. Come on 74!! 💚💚

Definitely take the positives. We stopped them scoring from open play. They’re a good team; so are we on our day. No reason next Saturday can’t be that day.

They squandered too many chances (& Greg was on good form), we failed to create much. Hope we learnt a lot from today and hoping the atmosphere (& weather) will be warmer next week to cheer us through

Right result, we didn’t deserve a draw or a win. Like it’s been said we were second best today and we know we are capable of much better. Thatcham looked impressive in the first half but faded pretty badly in the second. Still very much all to play for.

Seriously though we're definitely still in the tie and I'm confident with home advantage we can overcome this and get to Wembley. #WeAre74

Cold. Still in the tie. Can play better. On to next week 👊

We didn't turn out today as we can.... Nobody stood out. Resolute performance after going 1 down. They were quick on the break but did t threaten much

Their tiring in the last 20 is good for us.

Especially after our run in. Shows the lads are fit. Hats off to GoBow for that.
Second best today but it's not over.

I’m happy we are still in it, the managers will have learnt a lot today we are better at home #BringItOn

Both. No but seriously, we weren’t at the races today, but with a 1000+ crowd behind us and better conditions, its only a 1-0 loss...👌🏼
