Match pointers
1874 NORTHWICH will play their first league match of the calendar year against one of the section’s strugglers this Saturday.

Guests Daisy Hill have failed to win since the end of September, a sequence of 17 matches in all competitions.

The Bolton-based team has been beaten in seven successive away games in Division One since then, letting in 32 goals.

They did push Ian Street’s men though during the teams’ previous meeting back in August, succumbing only to Adam Foy’s winner with three minutes left.

Attacker Chris Lunn is available again tomorrow, Saturday, after sitting out the past two matches cup tied, while the hosts hope to be able to call on Danny Thomas too.

If he returns, then Street could advance Michael Aston to a more familiar midfield position.

A victory in midweek for Formby, conquered by Northwich in the League Challenge Cup last weekend, leaves the distance between the teams at six points.

1874 have a game in hand though, plus still have to play the Squirrels again.
