DANNY Robinson, Thatcham Town’s manager, said his side created enough chances to have established a bigger lead against 1874 Northwich in their FA Vase semi-final.

The Kingfishers were deserving winners on Saturday, but only have Ross Cook’s fourth-minute penalty to show for their efforts.

“We weren’t ruthless enough,” said Robinson.

“I felt we should have nicked a second goal, but of course we’ll take 1-0.

“We always create opportunities – look at our scoring record this season – and for a fact I’ll predict we’ll do the same up there next week.

“Of course it’s then up to us to take them.”

Robinson’s side extend an unbeaten run in all competitions to 28 matches following a 1-0 victory at Waterside Park.

Despite taking a step closer to Wembley, he remains cautious.

“It’s nowhere near ‘job done’,” he added.

“It’s nice to have a slight advantage, and we’re pleased to have kept a clean-sheet.

“I felt we managed the game well in the second-half, something that’s so important at this level, and we took the sting out of things.

“Northwich deserve credit too; they moved the ball around well, and I admire how they stick to their philosophy of playing out from the back.

“They had chances too, and our goalkeeper made a good save in both halves.”
