1874 Northwich climbed three places to seventh in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division courtesy of last night’s 3-1 home win against Squires Gate.
The second victory in three days, having won 2-0 at Ashton Athletic on Tuesday, featured two goals from Scott McGowan either side of half time and a decider from Ryan Jackson five minutes from the end after Scott Harries had pulled one goal back for the visitors.
McGowan headed home Jack Lever’s cross for the opener after 44 minutes.
Jackson set up the striker for his second nine minutes into the second half.
Gate were not going to throw in the towel though and Harries made things interesting again with his response in the 60th minute.
But Jackson sealed victory from a corner after Sam Hind had flicked the ball on.
