1874 NORTHWICH will start a new season by playing Northwich Victoria – a club their supporters broke away from to form their own five years ago – in an FA Cup tie.
The teams were paired in a draw for the extra preliminary round published on Friday.
Two previous meetings, both in knockout ties last term, were won by 1874 including a 1-0 victory in the Mid-Cheshire District FA Senior Cup final.
Their next clash, scheduled provisionally for Saturday, August 5, has added resonance being the opening fixture of the campaign.
It will take place at Barnton's ground on Townfield Lane, where Vics have an agreement play their home games this season.
Following their relegation to the North West Counties League, Paul Moores' men will also be opponents in the Premier Division this time around.
The victors host Athersley Recreation or West Didsbury & Chorlton at the next stage.
According to the FA, a field of 737 clubs makes up this season’s FA Cup with 370 of those taking part in the extra preliminary round.
A prize of £1,500 is paid out to each tie's winners.
