IAN Street says the past seven days have been the best of the season after 1874 Northwich followed last week’s success against the league’s leaders with another at AFC Liverpool.

He told the Guardian he knew Tom Bailey’s second-half goal would be decisive after the visitors’ 1-0 victory on Saturday.

“I thought whoever scored first was going to win,” he said afterwards.

“Thankfully it went our way, although I think we had opportunities to have got two or three goals.

“We knew this would be a massive week in our campaign with two really tough games against opponents that would have taken great delight in stopping us in our tracks.

“To have six points at the end of them is due a fantastic collective effort. Everybody has played a part.”

1874 have now won four successive fixtures in the North West Counties League’s Premier Division, their best run of results to date this term.

They remain fifth in the table, but trail Atherton Collieries and Bootle only on goal difference.

Runcorn Linnets, in second, are a single point better off but have played more matches.

Street said: “We’re on a roll, and there’s a bit of belief in the dressing room now.

“On another day, Liverpool might have pinched a goal.

“They’ve had the upper hand in our previous meetings, but I’m made up to have kept a clean sheet against them when they’ve been in such a good run of form and scoring freely.”

His side’s 15th triumph of the campaign has come at a cost though.

Midfield anchor Dahrius Waldron (groin), along with wide men Tyler Edwards and Ryan Jackson (knee) all had their involvement cut short by an injury.

That trio join Joe Woolley (hamstring) on a list of doubts for a Boxing Day derby with Winsford.

Full backs Paul Connor and Matty Russell are both banned for the meeting with Blues.
