1874 Northwich will be favourites to progress at the expense of opponents that have won a single match to date this season.

The Tangerines, relegated from the North West Counties League top flight at the end of last term, sit third-bottom in Division One after struggling to adapt to life at a lower level.

They have though won on a previous visit to St Luke’s Barton Stadium, surprising Ian Street’s side during a league fixture in April of last year.

1874 drew 0-0 at Bootle on Tuesday, marking the first time during the current campaign that they’ve been shut out.

Numbers game

1874 Northwich have won three of their previous four meetings with AFC Blackpool, scoring a dozen goals in the process.

They exited last season’s edition at the last 16 stage following a penalty shoot-out at Ashton Athletic, although their best run in the competition is a semi-finals appearance in 2014.

Visitors Blackpool haven’t won any of their past 13 matches in all competitions, a sequence that started back in August.

Man to keep an eye on

Joe Woolley

Was introduced as a second-half substitute in midweek after returning to the club from Kidsgrove Athletic.

Has the dribbling ability, and eye for goal, that will add a different element to 1874’s attack – attributes that should mean he slots into a 4-3-3 with relative ease.

1874 team news

Mark Jones (groin) and Paul Connor (ankle) are ruled out by injury, although they hope to be available to play against Congleton in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup in midweek.

Ryan Jackson will be part of the squad, while midfielder Sam Hare plays for the final time before a suspension.
