Why should I watch..?
Both sides started the season in exactly the way they would have wanted last Saturday, by winning FA Cup ties.
Squires Gate secured an impressive victory at Northern Counties East League side Maltby Main, coincidentally 1874’s conquerors in the preliminary round of last term’s edition.
Danny Penswick’s men won the corresponding meeting in March, when Ryan Tanser’s stoppage-time goal provided a huge boost to the hosts’ Premier Division survival chances.
Numbers game
1874 Northwich have yet to lose their first Saturday league game since being formed; a 1-1 draw against Oldham Boro in their debut season has been followed by wins against AFC Blackpool and tomorrow’s opponents.
Man to keep an eye on
Scott McGowan
Has made impressive cameos as a substitute in 1874 Northwich’s two games to date, including a scoring one at former club Congleton Town on Tuesday.
There is already fierce competition for a place in attack in Ian Street’s side, and McGowan’s strike partners Tom Bailey and Sam Hind have been on target too this week.
