IAN Street’s latest recruit for 1874 Northwich’s attack scored more than 50 goals last season.

And wide man Ben Brooks, who helped Wythenshawe Town to claim a quadruple, hit the net on his debut for the North West Counties League promotion hopefuls in a 3-2 win at Bootle on Saturday.

He arrives at Barton Stadium following brief spells at Glossop North End and Stockport Town this term.

“He’s exciting, and we’ve had a glimpse of that already,” said Street following yesterday’s success.

“I saw him come on as a substitute for Glossop in an FA Cup replay [against Skelmersdale] in September, and was really impressed.

“He has loads of energy, and is relentless.

“I like that he’s left-footed as well, as it gives us more balance in the final third.”

Brooks, who has also turned out for Cheadle Town, Stockport Sports and Winsford United, was one of two debutants in the starting line-up at Bootle.

Goalkeeper Greg Hall also made his first appearance since a switch from Glossop last week.
