TWO goals from Matthew Beadle and another from Matthew Ward helped 1874 Northwich to come from behind twice and earn a share of the spoils.

They avoided a third successive league defeat as a result.

Beadle, making his first start of the season, needed only five minutes to find the net.

The 27-year-old, 1874’s leading marksmen last term, applied a finishing touch to a move that involved Ward and Ryan Jackson.

However the home team levelled after quarter of an hour when Steven Jones punished a mistake by Ward, who had lost possession carelessly.

And Liverpool edged ahead midway through the opening period, Francis Barry slotting in Bobby Evans’ cross from the right after captain Ryan Cox’s dummy distracted defenders.

1874 boss Ian Street was forced to reshuffle his defence when Ryan Mitchell left the field with an injury, leaving Matthew Woolley to drop back in fill in following Steve McNichol’s introduction.

At the other end, Woolley’s speculative drive from distance prompted Liverpool goalkeeper Josh O’Connell to make a smart save.

1874 did though score a first equaliser of the contest on 34 minutes, Beadle steering in from the penalty spot.

Ward was denied a goal by O’Connell early in the second period, the custodian tipping his effort onto the crossbar.

The hosts scored next instead, Barry slipping the ball past net-minder Matthew Conkie after the visitors had again surrendered possession.

1874 refused to be beaten, and Ward fired a powerful effort out of O’Connell’s reach to deservedly restore parity following fine work by Beadle.
