MATTHEW Beadle scored for the first time in more than three months as 1874 Northwich completed a double over Barnoldswick.

He hit the net in the second period, his 22nd goal of the campaign, to help Ian Street’s men record a third win from their past four Premier Division matches.

They had to come from behind to do it.

Barlick took the lead after quarter of an hour when Harry Thompson, left unmarked, shot past goalkeeper Matthew Conkie following fine approach play down the left.

The visitors levelled quickly, Danny Thomas prodding in a loose ball after the hosts failed to clear a free kick.

Thompson was unlucky not to restore Barnoldswick’s advantage when his attempt from the edge of the box hit an upright.

Instead fortune favoured 1874, who edged ahead when custodian Scott Reid missed a cross and the ball hit defender Anthony Pollard before bouncing into the net.

A third goal almost followed before the break, when Beadle’s drive was parried by Reid after Matthew Woolley had burst forward from midfield to tee him up.

Barnoldswick cursed their luck again early in the second half when Tom Henderson, after resisting defenders’ attempts to tackle, fired an effort against the crossbar.

Conkie then reacted quickly to deny Thompson from close range after he was first to the rebound.

Beadle drilled low past Reid from just inside the penalty area to make it 3-1, settling the outcome.

Thomas’ header from a corner forced Barlick’s custodian to save as 1874 tried to widen their margin of victory, repeating the trick to stop substitute Sakeel Abdullah from marking his return with a goal.

Another replacement, Chris Lunn, hooked a smart finish over Reid’s head after winning a foot race to a lofted through-ball during stoppage time.
