1874 NORTHWICH will not be sanctioned after accepting a charge relating to the behaviour of a supporter following a fixture at Runcorn Town in August.

During a hearing in front of a Cheshire FA disciplinary panel at Moss Farm on Monday, the club received a warning.

However no further action will be taken after the alleged incident referred to by referee Steve Rudd in his report on the visitors’ 3-2 win at the Pavilions in a North West Counties League Premier Division encounter in August.

Afterwards the club was charged with misconduct under FA Rule E20, which covers the actions of those watching a match.

“Cheshire FA would like to place on record that we are very impressed with the measures 1874 Northwich FC have put in place to try and educate their supporters,” said a spokesman for the governing body.

“Those procedures will help to eradicate any potential future incidents of the same nature.”

Chairman Paul Stockton used his programme notes at least twice last month to remind fans of their responsibilities.

The club used the same pages to promote the FA’s Respect initiative, designed to challenge bad behaviour on and off the pitch.

“We’re grateful to have had the chance to explain what we’ve done since the incident in question,” said Stockton.

“It’s something we’ve taken very seriously.”
