FORMER Witton midfielder Matthew Woolley has left Cheshire League champions Knutsford to join 1874 Northwich.

He was an unused substitute during Saturday’s 4-2 win against Hanley Town in the North West Counties League.

Woolley, now 23, started the current campaign at Congleton Town before switching to Reds where he has played alongside brothers Jack and Joe.

Before that, he made more than 40 appearances in two spells at Wincham Park and was part of an Albion side promoted via the play-offs to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s top tier in 2012.

A former Cheshire FA Youth team skipper, versatile Woolley can play at full back as well as in midfield.
