IAN Street says he is not surprised Daley Woods has made an impressive start to his time with 1874 Northwich.
The attacker has scored in wins against Widnes and Cheadle Town over the past seven days after leaving Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club Cammell Laird.
He has twice hit the net on debut at Barton Stadium, where he was on target for Winsford United when wearing blue for the first time back in September 2011.
“Daley is a confidence player, and right now his spirits are high,” said Street.
“I was made up he decided to come to us because I know clubs from divisions above ours were interested in signing him.
“But he knows a lot of the lads here as well as being familiar with the surroundings, so I expected him to settle in and be comfortable quickly.”
Woods has filled a vacancy left by forward Tom Peers following the teenager’s return to parent club Chester, where he signed a contract last week.
He can attack from a starting point on the right, or play centrally.
Street said: “Daley had been in and out of the team at Cammell Laird, and just wants to get back to playing regularly.
“He’s somebody I’ve known for a long time and has faith I can get the best out of him.”
Woods will hope to continue his scoring streak when Chadderton visit Barton Stadium later today, Saturday.
1874’s target is to record a third successive win in Division One, as well as recording a league double against a team they defeated 3-1 in the return match.
Street said: “Chadderton have made a couple of signings since we played them at their place, so I expect them to be better than then.
“They’ll want to come here and put one over on us, which was Cheadle’s game plan in midweek.
“Our job is simple; to keep going the momentum we’ve picked up.”
