INTERNET addresses that might be home for a new football team in Northwich have been bought by a firm fighting legal battles for Northwich Victoria.
Football Factors, hired by Vics owner Jim Rushe to represent the club in a ongoing dispute with the Football Association and the Northern Premier League, registered on Friday a number of websites including the term 1874 Northwich.
The name was picked by fans as their favourite in a poll the previous day.
“It’s just sharp business practice on my part,” said Graham Bean, who runs the Yorkshire-based company.
“I wondered if those behind the new club had bought the rights and discovered that they hadn’t, so I now own the names.”
A member of Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust, a 200-strong group that voted a fortnight ago to start its own version of Vics, spotted that 1874northwich.co.uk, 1874northwichfc.co.uk and 1874northwich.org.uk had been registered by Bean.
Asked to comment by the Guardian, trust chairman Paul Stockton said that he would discuss the situation with board members at a meeting later this week.
Fans have argued already that the former FA compliance officer intends to hold on to the domain name – a title that identifies a website – simply to frustrate them.
Bean says that is not true.
He added: “This has got nothing to do with Jim Rushe or Northwich Victoria. Neither has any involvement in what I have done.
“I’m open to offers to sell them.”
Early in the internet’s history, many web operators bought generic domain names only to be challenged later on by companies wanting the rights to them.
It is not known if the trust will do the same in this case.

Not sure what your all complaining about the trust have since jim rushe gave his blessing for a new club has taken northwich victorias year of formation in its own name and have also made attempts to take northwich victoria juniors away from the club non of which have nothing to do with the new club.
I suggest that you stop being Rushe's foul smelling mouth piece, stop listening to his propaganda, stop doing his dirty work by posting his lies and deceit.

I can confirm that the Supporters Trust has not made attempts to take the Juniors from Northwich Victoria 2007 FC. The Supporters Trust fully understands and respects their relationship with the Senior Club. The Juniors are a strong, well run Football Club and the Management will always make democratic decisions that are in the best interests of all their young players.
Maybe an apology for accusing the Supporters Trust of kidnapping the Juniors?
By the way the 138 year history doesn't belong to Rushe's business formed in 2007. The fans of 1874 Northwich FC have claimed it back, wink, wink!

1874 is a year.
Northwich is a town.
Neither can be copyrighted.
Tesco's is a brand name and as such is owned by the copyright holder. We have taken NOTHING from Rushe and want nothing either.
How much money have YOU spent this year on pointless coach trips for a few fans that HE should have paid for?

Well nice to see a nice biased view in the paper this morning. Totally neglecting to say about all the childish behaviour of supporters trust members on their forum. And this was even before he had done anything for the club. Childish name calling, childish pictures of rowan atkinson etc etc to name a few.
Frankly I'm surprised the local paper are giving any media coverage at all to a team that plays well outside its distribution area and will do for the foreseeable future.

Is Bean seriously suggesting that, having freed themselves of the clutches of one financial cripple of a business, the Trust and the fans should give money to another (his Football Factors conciliation company being in adminstration - no wonder if this is his idea of "conciliation"!)
